Dear MARE OWNERS,

Thank you for considering the stallions standing at our farm. It is our goal to promote the stallions we own and stand, to the best of our ability, so you will not only be proud of the foal your mare produces, but the resulting foal will have market value and be a profitable investment for you. Please read over our farm info and guarantees as we offer several programs you will not find anywhere else. We work extra hard to get your mare in foal fast, send her home in great shape and do it at fair prices. So, whether you send your mare to the farm or use shipped semen, we want you to know we consider your trust in us a compliment and we take pride in that. We think our stallions, programs and services will be the start of a relationship that will keep you coming back.

BREEDING BY SHIPPED SEMEN

Cooled shipped semen has opened many breeding opportunities in the equine world. We can now breed to stallions that are on other ends of the map, with a simple phone call. This is a great tool in the promotion of stallions. I believe cooled semen has pretty much changed the way we look at breeding, as now we are no longer confined to stallions just in our area. However there are costs and some draw backs to breeding with cooled semen and that is what I want to address in this letter. On the stallion end you will have to pay a collection fee, I can't speak for other farms but what we charge this fee for is the following....the cost to process the semen. This comes to $50 and that is what we pass on to the customer. There will be shipping cost. In the states this will range from $30 to $60. On most of our stallions we include the first shipment in the stud fee. This is our obligation to you: to provide the semen when you need it. This is where you the mare owner comes in. As your mare is not at a breeding farm, it is your responsibility to see the mare is in good shape to breed and to get her ready. You now have to take on the job of getting your mare to cycle, monitor her cycles, get her an ultrasound to know when she has a follicle and is ready to ovulate so you can call for semen to have it there in time to breed her. This is not as complicated as it sounds and I’m sure not trying to talk you out of breeding by cooled semen. I just want you to understand that the most important thing you can do, is find a great reproduction vet and put him/her in charge of your mare. When we have a good team on the mare’s end, usually one shipment is sufficient and we are done. If you have a so-so vet, it is you that ends up paying and paying. We have worked with many vets in many states and can usually recommend one if you do not already know of one. Breeding with cooled semen, can be one of the best things to do, as your mare does not have to leave home. It can actually cost less as there is no transportation or mare care involved. It all comes down to who you have working with you on your end. There are a lot of great articles on the Internet, on breeding with cooled semen, I suggest reading some so as the mare owner you will be informed and not get overcharged or get a vet that is not great in reproduction work. We pride our farm on not over charging for our services and we will tell it like it is, we do want your business and hope you choose one of our stallions, with stallion and mare owner working together, breeding with shipped cooled semen can be a great choice.

Breeding contracts/guarantees will open in a new window.
